(04 February 2025, Jakarta) – Charge d’Affaires Gonaranao B. Musor warmly welcomed eight (8) Filipino students participating in the Pre-Service Student Teacher Exchange in Southeast Asia (SEA-Teacher Project) Batch 10 being hosted by Universitas Negeri Jakarta (UNJ).
A commencement ceremony was held at UNJ to officially welcome the 8 Filipino students from National University, Universidad de Sta. Isabel De Naga, Inc., University of Immaculate Conception, and Xavier University. These students will be participating in the international internship program from 02 to 27 February 2025.
The ceremony was attended by UNJ officials and faculty, including Prof. Dr. Ifan Iskandar, Vice Chancellor for Academic and Student Affairs; and Prof. Dr. Johansyah Lubis, Head of the Learning Development and Quality Assurance Institute. Also present was Ms. Julie Duperoir, Attaché at the French Embassy in Jakarta, in support of one French student also doing her internship at UNJ.
CDA Musor expressed his deep appreciation for this partnership between UNJ and the various Philippine schools. “By opening its doors to Filipino students, UNJ is not only strengthening bilateral ties but also contributing to the educational development of Southeast Asia,” CDA Musor said.
CDA Musor also emphasized the broader significance of the initiative, stating that the SEA-Teacher Project represents a step toward stronger collaboration between the Philippines and Indonesia. He encouraged the students to embrace their roles as cultural ambassadors, helping to foster deeper friendships between the two nations.
“Through initiatives like the SEA-Teacher Project, we are creating a foundation for greater cooperation in education, and I look forward to future educational projects that will continue to benefit our students and strengthen our bilateral relations,” he added.
The SEA-Teacher Project is an educational exchange initiative under the Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization (SEAMEO). It aims to support pre-service teachers from Southeast Asia by offering them hands-on experience in classrooms across the region, promoting cultural understanding and educational cooperation.
During the program, the Filipino students will be teaching at UNJ partner schools, including SD Tarakanita 5, SMP Labschool, and PAUD Labschool. A second batch, consisting of 9 Filipino students from Xavier University, Sr. Emilio Esponasa Sr. Memorial State College of Agriculture and Technology, Northwestern Visayan Colleges, and West Visayas State University, will participate in the program from 03 to 26 March 2025.
