(08 April 2025, Jakarta) - Charge d’Affaires, a.i. Gonaranao B. Musor of the Philippine Embassy in Jakarta served as panelist during the 3rd Southeast Asia Young Women Diplomacy Skills Workshop held at Movenpick Hotel Jakarta City Centre on 07-09 April 2025 and organized by the Global Network of Women Peacebuilders (GNWP).
Joining CDA Musor as panelist were former Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process, Secretary Teresita Quintos Deles and Ambassador Artauli Tobing of the ASEAN Institute for Peace and Reconciliation and former Indonesian Ambassador to Vietnam.
The workshop brought together 21 young peacebuilders from Bangladesh, Cambodia, Myanmar, Indonesia, Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam as part of a three-session training series aimed at strengthening their advocacy and diplomacy skills, particularly in conflict-affected and humanitarian settings.
The panelists engaged in a dialogue with the young peacebuilders that covered various topics, including the role of diplomacy in sustaining peace and security, pathways to peace for women and the youth, sharing of best practices, and pressing peace and conflict challenges, such as the situation in Myanmar and the Bangsamoro peace process.
In one of his interventions, CDA Musor said that “peace is the lifeblood of diplomacy” while highlighting the critical role of women and the youth in peace and security. “The women and the youth are the most vulnerable during conflict situations, hence it is important to empower them and ensure that they play an active role in peacebuilding efforts,” CDA Musor added.
“The practice of diplomacy should not be limited to career diplomats. Regardless of your profession or the sector you come from - whether from the government, CSO, private or the academe - we all have the responsibility to practice diplomacy as part of our collective peacebuilding efforts,” CDA Musor said.
