(27 September 2024, Jakarta) – Philippine Ambassador to Indonesia Gina A. Jamoralin received a courtesy call from Ms. Lyn Hazel Calawod, coach-therapist of two-time Olympic gold medalist gymnast Carlos Yulo, at the chancery on 27 September 2024. As a sports and neuroscience therapist, as well as occupational therapist, Ms. Calawod is in Indonesia to give seminars to young Indonesian gymnasts.

Ms. Calawod discussed that she was selected by the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG) to create a gymnastics program for the latter’s World Health Organization (WHO) project for the Global Commission on Ageing in Developing Countries. Designed for the aging population, it will be open to 60+ year old adults throughout Indonesia to teach awareness and preventive measures to combat accelerated health decline and help reduce health costs.

Ambassador Jamoralin expressed her support to the program and suggested that the project be also implemented in the Philippines through the Office of Senior Citizens Affair (OSCA) or National Commission of Senior Citizens (NCSC), after its pilot implementation in Indonesia.

Indonesia is gearing up to host the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG) Artistic Gymnastics World Championships in Jakarta on 29-25 October 2025.

Ambassador Jamoralin was accompanied by Third Secretary and Vice Consul Glenn Joseph D. Teh, while Ms. Calawod was joined by Indonesian Gymnastics Federation (PERSANI) President Ita Yuliati and Japanese gymnastics coach Ayako Acaba.
