(17 Nov. 2022, Jakarta) – The Philippine Embassy in Jakarta welcomed a delegation of senators from the Parliamentary Cooperation Committee of the Regional Representative Council of the Republic of Indonesia or Badan Kerja Sama Parlemen Dewan Perwakilan Daerah Republik Indonesia (BKSP DPD RI) for a courtesy call cum briefing with Chargé d’ Affaires, a.i. Bryan Lao and other embassy officials.

The eight-man delegation from the upper chamber of Indonesia’s national legislature was led by the Hon. Lily Amelia Salurapa (Representative, South Sulawesi Province). She was joined by other elected officials of the People’s Consultative Assembly namely Hon. Dr. H. TB. M. Ali Ridho Azhari (Representative, Banten Province), Hon. Arniza Nilawati (Representative, South Sumatra Province), Hon. Bambang Santoso (Representative, Bali Province), Hon. Erlinawati (Representative, West Kalimantan Province), Hon. Achmad Sukisman Azmy (Representative, West Nusa Tenggara Province), Hon. Misharti (Representative, Riau Province), Hon. Abraham Liyanto (Representative, East Nusa Tenggara Province), and Hon. Mamberob Yosephus Rumakiek (Representative, West Papua Province).

The legislators sought to inquire on avenues to increase the interest, activities, people-to-people and cultural exchange, as well as trade and other cooperative activities in the Brunei Darussalam-Indonesia-Malaysia-Philippines East ASEAN Growth Area (BIMP-EAGA) corridor particularly in the involved regions in Indonesia and the Philippines. xxx
