(10 Nov 2023, Jakarta) – Philippine goods and food items were again among the most popular products at the 54th Women’s International Club (WIC) Annual International Charity Bazaar held on 08-09 November 2023 at the Jakarta Convention Center.
The Philippine booth showcased a variety of native products such as Philippine fabrics, select handicrafts, barong Tagalog, fashion accessories, and souvenir items. The cultural spread was complemented by a sampling of ready-to-eat Filipino staples such as kaldereta, puto, biko, turon, leche flan, tapsilog, and buko pandan. Additional items were on display such as Philippine dried mangoes, food recipe mixes, cookies, and other food products brought in by Philippine trading company 1Export. Philippine snacks such as Oishi and Jack n’ Jill, courtesy of PT Liwayway Indonesia and PT URC were also among the first to sell out during the two-day event.
The Philippine Embassy participates in the annual WIC Charity Bazaar to showcase Philippine goods and cultural products and to support the Women’s International Club charity projects and programs intended to make an impact in the lives of disadvantaged people in the larger society. The WIC’s social welfare program benefits thirteen (13) social institutions, including three home centres for the elderly, seven (7) orphanages, a school for the visually impaired, and a school for children with special needs. The WIC also provides educational scholarships and funds for physiotherapists, speech therapists, nurses, and teachers for autistic patients.

The Philippine booth at the 54th WIC charity bazaar was a collaboration between the Philippine Embassy in Jakarta, PT URC, PT Liwayway Indonesia, 1Export, select food vendors, and the Philippine Mission to ASEAN. (END)
