(20 March 2024, Jakarta) – As part of its 2024 National Women’s Month Celebration, the Philippine Embassy’s Gender and Development (GAD) Unit organized a Basic First Aid Training for Embassy personnel, in cooperation with the Indonesian Red Cross on 20 March 2024 at the chancery’s Multi-Purpose Hall.
The instructors delivered a lecture on basic first aid principles, followed by a demonstration of basic first aid applications. As the highlight of the said training, Embassy personnel engaged in a simulation activity on responding to different medical emergency scenarios.
The training, in line with the Embassy’s recent updating of its Contingency Plan, aims to emphasize women’s right to protection and security in times of disasters and emergencies, as mandated by the Magna Carta for Women (Republic Act 9710). It likewise aims to empower women and acknowledge their roles as first-responders within and outside their respective homes.
