(12 June 2024, Jakarta) - The Embassy of the Republic of the Philippines led by Ambassador Gina A. Jamoralin met with Wali Nanggroe Tengku Malik Mahmud Al-Haythar of Aceh Province at the sidelines of the diplomatic reception to commemorate the 126th Anniversary of Philippine Independence last 12 June at the St. Regis Jakarta to personally hand over books as a sign of Philippines-Aceh Friendship.

Among the books donated were from the National Commission for Culture and the Arts and the DFA Office of Cultural Diplomacy, together with books from the collection of Sentro Rizal Jakarta. The books, written in English, showcase Philippine culture and traditions, poetry and literature (stories for children).

In her Independence Day speech during the diplomatic reception, Ambassador Jamoralin highlighted the book donation as part of the Embassy’s thrust for cultural exchange and promotion. “This is a promise I made during my first visit to Banda Aceh in August 2023 during its Peace Day anniversary,” Ambassador Jamoralin added.
