National Arts Month 2025 1

This February, Sentro Rizal Jakarta is celebrating National Arts Month with the theme Ani ng Sining: Diwa at Damdamin (Harvest of the Arts: Soul and Passion). This year’s theme emphasizes that the creativity of a nation springs forth from the spirit and passion of its people. “Diwa” is a Filipino word that means several things—spirit, essence, soul—and “damdamin” denotes passion, both propelling creation, expression and development.

Join us in the celebration through the online exhibit entitled “Strong and Lustrous,” organized by the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) and the Museo ng Kaalamáng Katutubò (MUSKKT), and experience the rich tapestry of Philippine culture and arts.

The online exhibit showcases abaca, often referred to as Manila hemp, and its important role in Philippine crafts and industries. Its use in traditional textiles and contemporary designs reflect the enduring creativity and resourcefulness of the Filipino people.  Through the online exhibit, visitors will have an opportunity to see how this remarkable material has been woven into the fabric of the nation’s art and culture.

May this celebration not only serve as an opportunity to honor the creative talents of the Filipino people, but also recognize how art unites us and reconnects us to our roots. Together, let us honor our heritage, and ensure that our legacy continues to inspire the generations to come.
