The public is hereby informed that documents sourced from the Republic of the Philippines intended for use in the Republic of Indonesia must first be authenticated by the Authentication Division of the Office of Consular Affairs of the Department of Foreign Affairs (or any of its authorized satellite/regional consular offices) and should be submitted to the Indonesian Embassy in Manila for authentication before it can be used in Indonesia.
Following internationally established procedures for document legalization, especially for non-Apostille Convention signatory states, the Philippine document should:
- First be authenticated by the national-level authority of the Philippines (the DFA) and thereafter,
- Submitted for consular verification by the consular authorities of the country where it will be used (Indonesia), if an embassy is present in the Philippines. (Indonesia has an embassy in Manila.)
Conversely, documents sourced in the Republic of Indonesia intended to be used in the Philippines must first be certified by the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and authenticated by the Philippine Embassy in Jakarta before it can be used in the Philippines.
Please be guided accordingly.
