Charge d’Affaires Gonaranao B. Musor delivers his welcoming remarks to the participants of the webinar.
(30 November 2024, Jakarta) - In celebration of the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the Philippines and Indonesia, the Philippine Women’s Association (PWA) Indonesia, in partnership with the Philippine Embassy in Jakarta, successfully organized a Womenpreneur Webinar and a Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME) Bazaar. The event took place at the Philippine Embassy in Jakarta on 30 November 2024.
The event, which highlighted the empowerment of women entrepreneurs, featured insightful discussions and vibrant networking opportunities aimed at strengthening ties between the two nations and fostering entrepreneurial spirit among women. The webinar hosted distinguished guest speakers who shared their expertise on various aspects of women’s entrepreneurship and empowerment. Among the speakers were Sunar Basuki, Operations Director of PT Permodalan Nasional Madani (PNM); Ms. Elva Septinawati, SE, MM, of PT Kalungi; Ms. Irma Sustika, Women Empowerment Enthusiast; Mr. Karyanto, Digital Herbalist; and Ms. Elizabeth Furio Perez, Dean of the Faculty of International Business Management at i3L (Indonesia International Institute for Life Sciences).
In his opening remarks, Charge d’Affaires Gonaranao B. Musor mentioned that this event coincides with the 18-day Campaign to End Violence Against Women (VAW) which started last 25 November until 12 December. He added that economic abuse is a form of VAW and expressed the hope that more initiatives such as this webinar and bazaar will be organized to empower women and make them more financially independent. CDA Musor further mentioned reports that show both Indonesia and the Philippines exhibiting a pattern of having more than 60 percent of its MSMEs operated and led by women.
The event provided a platform for meaningful discussions on the role of women in entrepreneurship, sustainability, and the digital economy, as well as strategies to overcome the challenges women entrepreneurs face in both the Philippines and Indonesia. It also featured an MSME Bazaar showcasing innovative products and services from local Filipino and Indonesian entrepreneurs, further promoting cross-cultural exchange and business collaboration. END
