FIG Aging Society Indonesia Kick Off 1

(24 January 2025, Jakarta) – Chargé d’Affaires Gonaranao B. Musor welcomed Ms. Lyn Hazel Calawod, coach/therapist of two-time Olympic gold medalist gymnast Carlos Yulo, for a courtesy call at the Philippine Embassy on 24 January 2025.

Ms. Calawod updated the Embassy on her successful collaboration with the International Gymnastics Federation's (FIG) initiative entitled, FIG Aging Society: Indonesia Kick Off, that was held on 23 January 2025. The program aims to promote a long-term and safe health regimen targeting the aging population of Indonesia. The project is a key step to addressing the health and wellness of older adults, encouraging them to engage in gymnastics-based exercises to maintain physical fitness and overall well-being.

The Embassy cited Ms. Calawod’s initiative as a sign of the strong cooperation between the Philippines and Indonesia in promoting fitness and wellness through innovative programs, with a focus on sustainability and long-term health.

CDA Musor expressed his support for the initiative and commended the efforts of Ms. Calawod and the FIG in making a positive impact on the health of Indonesia’s aging society. This also aligns with PH’s policy of creating a more inclusive society for its aging population.

The Philippine Embassy and Ms. Calawod also agreed to explore collaboration in line with the Embassy’s health and wellness, as well as GAD thrusts, that will benefit not just Embassy personnel but also the members of the Filipino community in Indonesia. (END)
