(21 February 2025, Jakarta) - Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) Undersecretary for Mindanao Affairs,  Ms. Amihilda J. Sangcopan, represented the Philippines at the 2025 Asia Land Forum held in Jakarta on 17-21 February 2025.

During the panel discussion on Women’s Rights to Land in the Implementation of Agrarian Reform, Undersecretary Sangcopan emphasized that the Philippine constitution provides for gender equality and recognition of rights of rural women and their contribution to economic growth in the Philippines.

She shared how women’s participation in Philippine society and government recognition of women’s rights to land ownership contribute to improving the welfare of the family, the community, and the society as a whole.

Undersecretary Sangcopan also took the opportunity to invite fellow forum discussants and participants to visit the Philippines in order to learn how agrarian reform is implemented and how land rights are recognized, regardless of gender and religion.

Representatives from India, Bangladesh, Indonesia and various indigenous communities participated in the said forum. END.
