(15 April 2025, Jakarta) - Secretary of Tourism Christina Garcia Frasco was re-elected as Vice President of the 26th General Assembly of the United Nations (UN) Tourism and Chair of the Commission for East Asia and the Pacific (CAP) at the 37th Joint Meeting of the UN Tourism Commission for East Asia and the Pacific and the UN Tourism Commission for South Asia (CAP-CSA) held on 15-16 April 2025 in Jakarta, Indonesia.
Following Secretary Frasco’s re-election, UN Tourism Secretary-General Zurab Pololikashvili emphasized the importance of collaboration among UN Tourism countries, especially between the Philippines and Indonesia, as they both share similarities in natural resources, richness in culture and social dynamics.
Secretary Frasco highlighted gastronomy and sustainable tourism as an integral part of the Philippines’ campaign to promote the Philippines as a world-class destination. She also looked forward to the Philippines’ future collaboration with UN Tourism and Indonesia in tourism investment, education, and broader tourism economy. -END-
