(24 April 2025, Jakarta) – On the sidelines of their participation in the literary forum entitled Bridging Cultures through Books: A Discussion on Contemporary Filipino and Indonesian Literature on 24 April 2025 at the Universitas Negeri Jakarta (UNJ), two celebrated Filipino authors, Ms. Mica De Leon and Ms. Mignon Bravo Dutt, donated a copy of their published works to the Sentro Rizal Jakarta Library.
The donation was made as the Embassy celebrates National Literature Month 2025, with the theme “Sikad Panitikan: Culture and Literature for Development.”
Ms. Mica De Leon, a Palanca award-winning author, donated a signed copy of her young adult fantasy series Seed Mage Cycle and the romantic comedy Love on the Second Read, which is also translated to Bahasa Indonesia and Korean.
Ms. Mignon Bravo Dutt, a Singaporean-based Filipino writer, donated her novels The Rosales House and Room 216. Having been featured as a writer in several literary anthologies and publications, including the Washington Post, Ms. Dutt’s work has contributed to the emerging genre of stories revolving around the Filipino diaspora.
The book donation aims to enhance the Philippine literature collection of Sentro Rizal Jakarta, the cultural arm of the Philippine Embassy dedicated to promoting Philippine arts, culture and language in Indonesia.
The Philippine Embassy expresses its gratitude to Ms. De Leon and Ms. Dutt for their generous contributions and continued commitment to fostering cross-cultural literary exchange. END
