Arrival of IDN President

(09 January 2024, Manila) – Indonesian President Joko Widodo arrived in the Philippines for his three (3)-day official visit from 09-11 January 2024.

President Joko Widodo met with Philippine President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. to reaffirm his commitment to deepen and expand ties with the Philippines, as well as to further increase collaboration on various areas between the two countries.

Both countries are also founding members of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) along with Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand.

President Widodo is the first foreign president to visit the Philippines this 2024.

Philippine Ambassador to Indonesia Gina A. Jamoralin was among the Philippine delegation that welcomed President Widodo at the Villamor Air Base in Pasay City. OPAPRU Secretary Carlito Galvez led the said delegation which also included Undersecretary Reichel P. Quiñones, and Pasay City Mayor Imelda G. Calixto-Rubiano.

The Indonesian side was led by Indonesian Ambassador to the Philippines Agus Widjojo, Madame Ranny Moerni Cahyani, Defense Attaché Col. Bambang Wijonarko and Fransisca Donna Carmelita. (END)
