(29 April 2024, Jakarta) – Ambassador Gina Jamoralin attends the Sisterhood Kartini Day by the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (KEMLU) to commemorate Indonesia’s Kartini Day with the theme “Kartinis of the World: Tradition, Spirit and Wisdom.”
Raden Ajeng Kartini is an Indonesian heroine who was known for her emancipation and empowerment of women in the country. During the event, the invited Ambassadors were given an opportunity to share a brief history of a heroine who strode for women’s empowerment and gender equality in their countries. Ambassador Jamoralin shared briefly about the life of the late Sen. Helena Zoila Tirono Benitez as a senator, diplomat, academic and administrator of the Philippine Women’s University.
The Ambassador highlighted Sen. Benitez’s advocacy for women’s rights and empowerment through her works in the arts and culture, education, diplomacy and politics making her one of the most prominent Filipino women in the contemporary history of the Philippines.
The event was opened by Director General Siti Nugraha Mauludiah of KEMLU’s Directorate General for Information and Public Diplomacy. END
