(27-28 August 2024, Bali) – Philippine Ambassador to Indonesia Gina A. Jamoralin delivered the keynote address during the BINUS Indo-Pacific Forum, an inaugural event hosted by BINUS University, on 27-28 August 2024 in Bali, Indonesia.

The BINUS Indo-Pacific Forum, with the theme “Navigating Asia’s Sustainability Agendas and Economy Landscape with Advanced Technology through Empowerment of International Higher Education,” aims to foster collaboration between industry and academia, leading to a synergy essential for driving sustainable advancements across the Indo-Pacific region.

In her keynote address, Ambassador Jamoralin encouraged more studies to be conducted that focus on the Indo-Pacific given its emerging status as a locus for many significant world events and as one of the busiest sea lanes in the world that carry people, food and other products. The Ambassador also highlighted the importance of the Indo-Pacific for the Philippines given that its top trading partners are found in the same region which require the country to engage in various free trade agreements (FTAs) in order to ensure economic integration and increase market access.

Ambassador Jamoralin also added that it is also important to effectively manage the dynamics in the region and harness its potential through various multilateral platforms and mechanisms, such as the ASEAN, APEC, RCEP, IPEF, among others.
