(05 September 2024, Jakarta) - Members of the Filipino community in Indonesia were in full force as they attended the Holy Mass celebrated by Pope Francis at the Gelora Bung Karno Stadium on 05 September 2024, as part of the Papal Journey in Jakarta from 03 to 06 September 2024. 

Through the generosity of Embassy of the Holy See in Jakarta, one hundred (100) members of the Filipino community were able to attend the Holy Mass representing various catholic organizations (i.e., Light of Jesus Family, Voices of Praises, Opus Dei, Gereja Yohanes Bosco, Couples for Christ, Handmaids of the Lord, El Shaddai), as well as personnel from the Philippine Embassy in Jakarta, Consulate General in Manado, and the Philippine Mission to ASEAN.

Aside from the Papal Mass, Pope Francis paid a courtesy visit to Indonesian President Joko Widodo and met with Indonesian authorities, civil society, and the diplomatic corps at the Istana Merdeka Presidential Palace, as well as convened an interfaith dialogue with members of the clergy and the youth at the Istiqlal Mosque, the largest mosque in Southeast Asia.

The Pope will also visit Papua New Guinea, Timor-Leste and Singapore. END
