(11 November 2024, Jakarta) – Philippine Ambassador to Indonesia Gina A. Jamoralin received a courtesy call from the Commission on Higher Education (CHED), together with a 25-member delegation from various Philippine academic institutions, on 11 November 2024 at the Chancery. The Philippine delegation was accompanied by its Indonesian host, Universitas Bakrie (UB), which organized the inaugural 10-day program entitled, ‘Short Course on Halal Food Standard Compliance: From Concept to Implementation.’
The short course aims to familiarize its participants with the fundamental principles of halal food concept, requirements for halal animal processing methods, halal assurance system, halal logistics and supply chain, and tourism.
Ambassador Jamoralin welcomed the delegates to Jakarta, and highlighted the importance of halal training and certification as there is great demand for this in global trade and in various sectors, particularly the food industry. She also emphasized that the Embassy will continue to facilitate similar partnerships in halal and education cooperation.
The participants of the short course are composed of students and faculty from different Philippine state universities and colleges, such as Cebu Technological University, Cotabato Foundation College of Science and Technology, Davao de Oro State College, Adamson University, Camarines Sur Polytechnic Colleges, Bukidnon State University, Central Mindanao University, University of the Philippines – Los Baños, Mindanao State University, Benguet State University, and Iloilo Science and Technology University, among others.
CHED was represented by Dr. Leomar Jay Oblianda (Education Supervisor II, Region XI) and Dr. Danstone Guy Dayaday (Education Supervisor II, Region XII). UB was represented by Dr. Mohammad Ihsan, Dean of the Food Technology Program, Mr. Kurnia Ramadhan, and Former Minister of Agriculture Dr. Anton Apriyantono.
