(10 March 2025, Jakarta) - The Philippine Embassy in Jakarta, through its Sentro Rizal, hosted a special screening of the Filipino film Azucar. The event marks the official launch of the Sentro Rizal Film Club, a new initiative of the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) to feature a curated selection of Filipino films each month, bringing Filipino culture to audiences worldwide.
For its inaugural screening, the Sentro Rizal Film Club showcased Azucar, a mid-length film that tells the captivating story of two hardworking individuals who form a romantic relationship while working in the smallest sugar mill in the Philippines. Set against the picturesque backdrop of Negros Occidental, Azucar weaves a heartwarming tale of love, dedication, and the importance of community in the sugar industry.
Sentro Rizal, a cultural arm of the Philippine government, is committed to promoting Filipino heritage through various cultural and artistic programs. With the launch of the Sentro Rizal Film Club, the Embassy hopes to foster a deeper understanding of Filipino storytelling, encourage cultural exchange, and celebrate the rich tradition of Filipino cinema.
